I Am Berlin
A self-discovery story that spans from a poor childhood to dancing at strip clubs in Germany. The journey from the child Yusuf to young Berlin and then to an anonymous “I”. On the road to finding his identity, Yusuf embarks on a journey of discovery about humanity, family, right and wrong, boundaries, love, dance, corruption, loneliness, nudity, and most of all, his own inner self. We invite you to join us with smiles and tears as he undresses his soul.
“Taking off your clothes, undressing, I don’t think it’s that difficult. I mean, eventually, what’s underneath will be seen. Everyone is the same… Flesh, bones, muscles. What’s difficult is, you know? To undress inside… That’s the hard part, because everyone’s inside is different. No one’s inside is the same as anyone else’s. Absolutely.”
